TOY CAMERAS

In a word, toy cameras are fun.

Generally speaking, they are low tech, low resolution (if digital), with less sophisticated optics and casings.

With them, one can capture great images not just despite these limitations, but because of them.

In this age of image manipulation, toy camera pictures have an undeniably REAL quality, and demonstrate the true alchemy of picture-taking: the magic which can turn a technical problem into a dream-like image, or which captures light in the frame like an object and not the ineffable…

These pictures were taken using a Sanyo Katana camera phone.

The Katana’s camera is a flash-less VGA camera, with 0.3 mega pixels.

VGA stands for “Video Graphics Array” and simply put, means that it produces images sized (or with a resolution of) 640x480 pixels.
